Do photovoltaic installations increase the risk of fire?
No more than any electrical installation (we provide some data).
Some components of the installation, such as loose or faulty connectors, can cause electrical arcs and, when located near flammable materials on the roof or in the inverter room, can lead to a fire.
However, in Germany, with over 2 million photovoltaic installations, 350 have caught fire in the last 20 years, and the photovoltaic installation was responsible for only 120 of those incidents (0.006% of the total installations).
✅ Having trained and certified professionals, using certified materials, and appropriate tools is the best way to protect against fires.
✅ Using tools that automate the calculation of cable sections according to the REBT (Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulations) is also an advantage to prevent human errors.
