Losses

Shading

Represents losses due to local shadows. You can manually define a value or let the platform calculate it automatically.

Soiling

These are losses caused by dirt that may accumulate on the modules. If you want to learn more, you can refer to Cleaning or not cleaning a photovoltaic installation, that is the question.

Snow

Losses due to snow.

Module nameplate rating

Represents the difference between the characteristics stated in the datasheet by the manufacturer and the actual performance. Usually, manufacturers indicate this value within a tolerance range.

Light-induced degradation

Represents losses experienced by a module typically in the first 72 hours of exposure to light, depending primarily on the doping type or module technology.

Module Mismatch

There are always small differences in the electrical characteristics of modules, even if they are of the exact same model. These differences result in losses, for example, in a series connection, the current of the entire set will be limited by the module with the lower current.

Connections

These are losses occurring at electrical connection points where a higher resistance is present compared to the cable.

Wiring

Ohmic losses in wiring.

Yearly module degradation

Represents the annual power loss of the system due to module degradation.

System Availability

Represents losses that occur when the system is disconnected from the grid during outages or maintenance.
